After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdeline and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he is risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him. Now I have told you." Matt 28:1-8
How cool is that!? In another gospel account, the women were wondering, on the way to the tomb, just how they were going to remove the stone? LOL! Problem solved...a BIG ole angel's gonna do it for you! That just made me laugh.
What an Easter it's been! Mike actually had today off work. He and Cole have been terribly sick with asthma-like symptoms. We missed church. It's been raining. None of the pictures I took turned out very well. But we have had a nice cozy family day playing games, watching a movie, taking naps and hunting eggs. I made leg of lamb for dinner...with garlic, baby red potatoes and pearl onions, YUM!
We read the Easter story and talked about what it means that "He is risen!" I hope that this Easter, you know He who is risen. God Bless!
